Hooding Programme for Postgraduate Students
The Postgraduates students of Covenant University have been urged to always strive to be relevant in their area of specialty and to always see how solutions can be proffered to any problems they come across
This advice was given by the Guest Lecturer, Professor Felix Ayadi at the Hooding Programme organized as part of the activities lined up to commemorate the 7th Convocation Ceremony at the Lecture Theatre on Tuesday, June 26, 2012.
He encouraged the students that just completed their Masters Programme not to relent on their efforts, but move a notch higher by commencing the PhD, so as to have a total package. He also admonished them to always seek to develop themselves continuously. “Where you find yourself, and you think you can be used to impact life, be a part it”, he said.
The Vice Chancellor of Covenant University, Professor Aize Obayan represented by the Director of the Centre for Learning Resources, Mr. Chris Nkiko, said that a hooding Ceremony is a special recognition ceremony that signifies the completion of a Postgraduate Programme.
Mr. Chris Nkiko also enjoined the Masters students not to stop at the Masters Level, but aim higher to bag a PhD degree.
He noted that Covenant University is known for her sound and good Educational system. According to him, a Good Education is one that touches the head, the heart and the hands. He likened the Head as the knowledge, the Heart as the character and responsibility and the Hands as skills and practical hands on.
He admonished them to go out and represent graduands who have a good education in the society. He thereafter congratulated the students and the Dean of Postgraduates Studies, Professor Chris Awonuga on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor.
Speaking earlier during the Programme, the Dean of Postgraduate Programme, Professor Chris Awonuga while addressing the Postgraduate Students, said it was a thing of joy to see that they were graduating and he urged them to aspire to be the best always in their chosen career and to continue to soar and grow.
According to him, 70 Masters Students, 19 PhD students and 22 Architecture Maters Students will be graduating during the grand finale of the 7th Convocation of Covenant University on Friday, June 29, 2012.
