Summary of Profile
Gershon’s research work and interest covers energy, natural resources, climate change and environment.
Previously, he was Director of the Vice Chancellor’s Office in Covenant University and taught at the prestigious Georgetown University. He is an outstanding researcher and expert in energy and natural resource economics having worked in the United Kingdom at University of Dundee. While in University of Dundee, for over six years, he researched, designed and tutored energy and petroleum related courses at the Centre for Energy, Petroleum and Mineral Law and Policy (CEPMLP).
He is a Visiting Professor to Eduardo Mondlane University, Mozambique, as well as, Visiting Lecturer to St. Jerome University, Cameroon and Emerald Energy Institute, University of Port Harcourt. His career began in banking, then academics and he worked in the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) as Natural Gas Market Analyst. He has vast experience and knowledge of crude oil and natural gas trade; taxation; as well as, energy policy and markets.
Furthermore, he has presented papers at International Conferences and is affiliated to numerous professional bodies and institutions - like the International Association for Energy Economics (IAEE), British Institute for Energy Economics (BIEE), Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), the Energy Institute, Association of International Petroleum Negotiators (AIPN) and the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM). Obindah peer reviews articles for journals, has authored/edited books and published several articles in peer-reviewed journals.
