Hopes, Aspirations as Covenant Welcomes Freshmen to Hebron

The atmosphere was euphoric as Covenant on Sunday, September 15, 2019, opened the doors to Hebron to new students of the University, for commencement of the 2019/2020 Academic Session.
For both the freshmen and their accompanying parents and guardians, the excitement of making the final cut of successful applicants into one of the world’s top 500 institutions was palpable.
The students, who were received by a team comprised of members of the University’s Resumption Committee, Student Affairs Unit, and the Security Unit, were made to go through a detailed check-in procedure to help them settle comfortably into the accommodation facilities prepared for them.
One common motivation for the freshmen was the sheer determination to make the most of the opportunities on offer in Covenant, which would enable them fulfil their destinies and above all become solution-proffering entities to the nation and the world at large.
Feranmi Kehinde, an undergraduate in the Department of Chemical Engineering, stated that it was a privilege to become a student of Covenant, taking into cognizance that the University was one of the best in Africa. “I am setting an expected goal that at the end of my study here, I must be listed among the best graduating students, and going out there to make impact in the world of work. Why? Because I’m sure the school is well-equipped to give me the necessary academic tools and resources to achieve that,” he added.
Another student, Tanimowo Boluwatife Kikelomo of the Accounting Department, said she was eternally indebted to her parents, and it was incumbent upon her to make them proud. She noted that beyond the acquisition of certificates, the Covenant’s system would enable her improve on her spiritual journey. According to her, “Spirituality is one of the factors that made me chose Covenant and I desire a better and improved spiritual life at the end of my programme.”
On her part, Oluyale Anjolaoluwa of the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, said she had looked forward to the day when she would proudly call herself a student of Covenant, adding that her parent’s investment in her here was to enable her gain meaningful experience, which at the end of her programme would bolster her with the requisite knowledge and experience necessary in making meaningful impact in life.
Sokunbi Testimony of the Department of Mass Communication, who had already established a warm relationship with her roommates, said that while she was enthused about having the best of time at Covenant, the race to emerge the best had already started. “I am going to do my possible best to make the most of institutional resources available to emerge the best in my department, college and possibly the University. Apart from certification, I look forward to getting proficient in photography and other entrepreneurial skills while here at Covenant,” she stated.
Some of the parents at the resumption ground commended the University for the proper planning and coordination of her processes, which resulted in orderliness in the processing of freshmen into their respective rooms at the halls of residence.
Mrs. Enyinade-Kayode noted with excitement the professionalism on display by members of the University team that received students. She expressed hope that the freshmen Class of 2019/2020 would make all their parents proud in four to five years’ time, depending on the duration of each student’s programme.
