Homegrown Products set to Emerge in the new Academic Session-VC
After revealing the University’s goal for 2015/2016 Academic Session-“Innovation, Product Development and Nation Building”, The Vice-Chancellor, Covenant University, Professor Charles Ayo has further stressed that the 2015/2016 Academic Session would witness new products through the University’s research base that would solve the challenges facing the country and the continent.
Professor Charles Ayo revealed this recently in an interview with Cyber Africa of the African Independent Television (AIT), adding that the institution would also collaborate with the industry to develop commercialized products that would be beneficial to humanity and lead to national development.
According to him, “By the grace of God, in the 2015/2016 Academic Session, homegrown tangible and intangible products shall emerge from the University to solve the myriad of problems that the nation is faced with.
“To us in Covenant University, we believe it is high time we start solving the problems faced in Nigeria and Africa. Come this session, we want products to be produced in collaboration with the industry that will meet the required standards for consumers,” he added.
The Vice-Chancellor also stated that in-line with the goal for the new academic session, the University has commenced series of innovations that would continue to bring exposure to her students, thereby raising the new generation of leaders that would change the country.
In his words, “The University has started a monthly seminar in all departments that involves interaction between the institution and the Industry. Also, at the end of every session, each student goes on a compulsory internship to further expose them to the happenings in the industry”.
Professor Charles Ayo, concluding his interview session, urged the government to be more proactive in education by adopting Information and Communications Technology (ICT) for the delivery of educational services.
