High-Tech proposes Skills Creation Centre for Covenant University

Presenting the proposal via an on-line platform on Tuesday, July 7, 2015, the Chief Executive Officer of the organization, Mr. Uri Sela noted that the concept was to help bridge the gap between classroom and modern industry. This, according to him, would help students grow from school to Industry. “With High-Tech in Covenant University, the students can garner experience before graduation,” he added.

Mr. Sela said that his organization, in the past 10 years, had been promoting High-Tech in Africa, making the continent to become a technology-age continent. He cited the example of Cameroon, which has the Centre in one of its institutions and has boosted the employability of the graduates. He also promised that his organization would facilitate collaborations between Covenant University and other leading Universities in Israel.

In his response, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Charles Ayo informed Mr. Sola and his Nigerian partner, Engineer Adejare Amoo, that Covenant University hosted the first University/Industry partnership in order to help solve the myriad of challenges in Africa.

Professor Ayo expressed confidence that the establishment of the centre would boost the training of quality engineers in the University. He added that it would also make Covenant University have world-class facilities to train her students. He, therefore, requested for an elaborate proposal for further consideration.

Earlier, while welcoming the team, the Registrar, Dr. Olumuyiwa Oludayo expressed hope that what they were bringing on board would propel the University to attain the Vision 1 of 10 in 10.

Also at the presentation were the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor Taiwo Abioye; Director, Financial Services, Pastor Deji Okubanjo; and the former Head of Department, Electrical and Information Engineering, Professor John Ndueso.
