College of Management and Social Sciences

At the inception of the University in 2002 and up till 2009, there were three Colleges: College of Business Studies (CBS), College of Human Development (CHD) and College of Science and Technology (CST). In 2009/2010 session, a restructuring of the University led to the amalgamation of College of Business Studies (CBS) and College of Human Development (CHD), becoming the College of Development Studies (CDS). The College of Management and Social Sciences (CMSS) came into existence in the 2019/2020 academic session. It was carved out of the former College of Development Studies.

 

College of Management and Social Sciences

The College of Management and Social Sciences (CMSS) is currently one of the two colleges in Nigeria that is accorded full membership status of the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). The college comprises six (6) Departments and ten (10) programmes, namely: Accounting; Banking and Finance; Business Management; Economics & Development Studies; Mass Communication; and Sociology. The programmes in the college are fully accredited by professional bodies such as the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA); the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, United Kingdom (CIMA); Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN); Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM); National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria (NIMN); and the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management. All the programmes are accredited by the National Universities Commission (NUC).

Our outstanding team of dedicated faculty and staff are committed to imparting our students with robust educational knowledge and transformative skills, built on a strong foundation in core business subject areas, enhanced with interpersonal experience that prepares them to excel in their chosen fields.
