The Intake Interview
Upon receiving your direct request or referral, CUCC counseling services begins with an intake interview appointment and a brief assessment may follow. Your initial appointment will be spent exploring your current concerns, challenges and needs, and determining how we can be of help to you. Following your initial appointment, with your participation a treatment plan to address your concerns will be developed.
After this initial appointment you and your professional counsellor will decide the next best step. You may continue working with the counsellor you that did your intake, you may be assigned to another counselor or other staff depending on your needs.
If you do continue to see a counsellor you will probably meet with your counselor weekly, for one hour appointments, for a semester or less. The goal is to provide a brief counselling intervention during a few number of couselling sessions, which will be communicated to you from the start if your therapeutic relationship.
