Computer Clusters and Laboratories
Laboratory computer clusters are available to members of the Covenant community at a variety of locations, including the those at the Center for learning Resources( CLR) , College of Science and Technology, College of Business and Social Sciences , the Language lab and Architecture Labs.
The College of Science and Technology Microcomputer Lab (CSTMPL) is located on the Third floor of the College of Science and Technology. Its services computing needs for Students and Faculty in the College of Science and Technology. The CSTMPL is managed by the Technology solutions center, a part of the Center for Systems and Information Services.
The lab has been evolving for approximately three years and will continue to evolve as new technology becomes available and old equipment is retired. It started out with 100 IBM computers and eighty clone computers but has grown to approximately 350 computers in 6 main lab areas. During the summer of 2005, a great leap forward took place with addition of 250 units (Two hundred and fifty new Pentium 4/3.2GHz computers that were deployed in the main CSTMPL labs. The older 100 IBM computer units that were displaced were relocated to the Accounting and Economics Laboratories at the college of Business and Social sciences, for year three and four hundred level students. All computers at the CSTMPL will be running dual Linux and Windows XP Pro operating systems and will be available to final year computer science, MIS and engineering students.
All this with a view to differentiating Covenant University, as a learning center of excellence by the effective deployment of technology to support collaboration and learning.
